Waiting for K to wake up

K is still asleep. She went to bed at 8 last night and has been asleep since! She's such a great sleeper now. We unfortunately had to let her cry it out when she was 9 1/2 months old. It was horrible for the first night, but once we got through that, the 2nd night wasn't too bad and the last night was amazing! Plus, the Dr. told us, it's good for her because she needs all of this sleep. I didn't believe him, but she's proving it to be true by sleeping this long! And, now she's awake!

South Beach Diet

R & I have been on the South Beach Diet for about a month http://southbeachdiet.com/sbd/publicsite/index.aspx.

So far, it's actually pretty easy. The 1st phase lasts 2 weeks and it's not nearly as strict as Atkins and we could eat as much as we wanted to, just as long as we felt full. You are supposed to lose 8-13 pounds. R lost about 10 pounds in the first phase! I think i lost about 5. After the 2nd week, we moved to Phase 2 and are currently on this phase. It's like everyday life- seriously, it's not that bad. We can't have ice cream, or donuts, but we really shouldn't be eating that stuff all the time anyway. In total, R has lost about 14-15 pounds and I've lost 7. I've pretty much plateaued, which is frustrating, but i also haven't worked out since I haven't been feeling well. If you look at the post on March 19, you can see the difference in R already! It's amazing! We are definitely eating better and healthier. I would highly recommend this way of living to anyone looking to change their lifestyle.

A Message from the dog

I thought I would post since my mom always posts. And, i wanted to write about my sister and me. ( My mom couldn't think of anything else to write about because she's tired).
I LOVE my baby sister. She's so much fun! You wouldn't think I would like her because before she came, mommy and daddy always used to pet me, pay attention to me, do everything with me, for me, and I loved every second of it. 2 years ago though, my mom's belly kept getting bigger and i used to lay next to her belly and listen to the beat inside of it. Then, one morning, my mom and dad left the house at 1 am! My dad came home the next night, but not my mom. Then, Gramma and Pop Pop came over to get me and I stayed at their house. Uncle S & B came and decorated the house, and I couldn't understand why, but then my mom and dad came home with this new little thing. I thought, what in the heck is this thing? Everyone is looking at it and it's getting all of everyone's attention. As the days went by, people kept coming to visit this little thing and I got to know it better- she is my sister! I love her so much. I love to watch her, play with her, take walks with her, steal her toys, let her give me treats, let her play with my toys, let her spill my water, jump up on her while she's trying to walk and just be with her! She's the best sister and I'm so glad she came to our house!!! Here are some pictures of us snugging.

Longer Days

I love that when I leave work now it is still so light out. When I leave to go, it's still so dark, but that's okay. We can now play outside, go for walks and enjoy the days. Today, we were able to come home and take K for a walk in her buggy. Here's a picture of her and R.

Also attached are more pictures from Easter. We changed K out of her dress and put her in an Easter onesie. She loves to play with the dog and has so much fun with her. She sometimes thinks that M's toys are her own. I love this picture of them looking out the window too- I said that they are looking for the Easter bunny.

Monday- Yuck

It's Monday- yuck. I'm back at work after being out sick last week a few days. I'm not a fan of Mondays at all. But, the good news is that K & I leave for vacation at the end of the week. R is going on vacation with some friends & M is going to visit her Grandmother for a little bit.

I've been meaning to post something about saving all of your data on your computer. We bought an external hard drive and R has been saving the data every month- mostly pics of K. Well, our current hard drive crashed and we lost about a month's worth of pics. We went to the Geeks at Best Buy but they couldn't save it. So, now we are extra careful and saving the photos in 2 locations as well as online. We're hoping that someone will be able to get us that data back. R lost a lot of MP3s too, which stinks.

Well, Happy Monday. I hope everyone has a great day!

Easter Sunday

I woke up pretty early this morning. K was still sleeping so I went to an early mass alone- won't do that again! Next year she's coming with me! And, the Easter bunny came! K must have been a really good girl, because she got a lot of things! She got a bubble blower, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, bath toys, books, coloring books and a Pat the bunny kissing book. After we went through our Easter baskets, we went to brunch with R's family. It was good. K had a good brunch- she ate more than any of us, I think. She's napping now- full belly= happy and sleepy baby. Later tonight, R, K & I will have dinner together. Above are some pics of K opening her basket, finding her card game- her little face was priceless, playing with her book (she knew to press the button- we never showed her!) & a picture of the floor under K's seat.
We hope that everyone had a very Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We hope that you all have a very Happy Easter!

Love,

R, J, K & M

Easter Eggs

E & J came over today to dye Easter eggs with us. We had a lot of fun. K even helped out a little, although she wasn't sure what to do with the egg so she threw it on the floor. Thank goodness they were hardboiled. I just realized tonight that R & I have dyed Easter eggs every year that we've been together!

Later in the afternoon we went to the mall and got K a new pair of shoes since she is walking. I had no idea all of the different options and all of the things to look for in buying shoes. There are so many cute shoes out there, but what's funny is that K's shoes are more expensive than ours! Well, not my Uggs, but any other pair I have.
I hope that the Easter bunny visits you all tonight!
PS- if you check the first post, I finally added a video of K walking! I figured it out finally.

Fridays....

I am fortunate enough to have Fridays off. I work a 4 day work week so I can spend the day with K. We always have a blast and it is so worth it to me to have this day with her. Sometimes we go and see R, sometimes we go shopping, but today we just hung out all day. We did nothing and it was so great. It was warm enough to take a walk outside in the buggy again. We actually went two times.

And, today is Good Friday. I've been doing so well not eating meat on Fridays, and today, of all the Fridays to slip, i did! I didn't mean to, R made me breakfast and I ate it. I felt so guilty, but I'm sure He understands. I just can't believe it's Easter already. I think what makes it even harder to believe is that it's supposed to snow tonight- yuck! I really hope those beautiful flowers that are blooming don't die in the cold. I took K to see the Easter bunny and she LOVED it. She's really into bunnies right now (one of her favorite books is "Pat the Bunny") so she was so excited to sit on it's lap. She was reaching for him, but once she got on him, the thumb went to her mouth and stayed.

Happy Spring!

Today is the first day of spring- Happy Spring! I really hope we have a real spring this year. I planted some flowers last fall and actually forgot about them. They are starting to bloom so you know spring is here. I love this picture I captured of K seeing a flower outside for the first time and trying to figure out what it is!

Happy Birthday R!

Today is my wonderful husband's 36th birthday. Happy Birthday, R! K wore a shirt today that said "Daddy's Lil Cupcake" and after work, we went to dinner. We came home, opened presents and then it was bedtime. It's funny to think back to R's birthday last year. K was only 6 weeks old. I've attached a picture from last year and this year of R & K together. Happy Birthday R! I hope you have many many more!! We love you!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Even though I'm not the least bit Irish, we still celebrated St. Patrick's Day by all wearing green. K is part Irish, so that counts. We have a few friends with birthdays today too, so Happy Birthday to them!

I picked K up from daycare today & I think she has moved herself to one nap a day. So, we'll see if that pattern continues. She walked some more today and L, our daycare provider, said she did great.

I'm watching Dancing with the Stars now. I LOVE that show! If you haven't had a chance to watch it, it's on ABC a few times a week. My very favorite was the season with Joey Fatone.

Birthday Party

We went to a 10th birthday party for my SIL's little sister today. K was invited. B considers K one of her friends and we think it's so cute. We had a lot of fun. K got a ball and a cookie. K "talked' the whole way down and the whole way home- it was a 45 minute each way ride. She is so funny. When we got home, we thought for sure she would be tired, but nope! She played, we ate dinner, played some more and then gave her a bath.

Spring Days

R, K, Molly & I had the best day today. We went to breakfast at our favorite place. When we got home, I suprised R. with a massage for his birthday so the masseuse was waiting for us. After she left, we went to the dog park. Molly sat on our laps the whole time. So, we took K over to the park and she had a blast! We put her on the swing for the first time and she loved it. We went down the slide with her too and that wasn't as much fun as the swing. Later, we went to dinner with R's mom. When we got home, it was still light and 60 degrees so we took K out for a walk in her buggy she got from Gramma and Pop Pop for her birthday. I highly recommend this buggy. K has a blast in it!

Always a first time for everything

So, I have decided to start a blog for our family. Our friend L. talked me into it, so here we are. (L., I hope I don't disappoint you!) I am getting my inspiration from our very creative friend B. Her blog is amazing and gave me the idea to start this. So, here we go.

First, you may wonder about the name. Well, since the day K. was born, we have called her nugget, which in the past 13 1/2 months, has shortened to Nugs, hence, "All About the Nug". So, this blog will serve to document K's life and milestones as well as updates about R, Molly and me.

In case I haven't called you to tell you, K hit another milestone this week- she started walking! She's been taking steps since February- took her 1st step on her party, and took 9 steps on Feb. 28. Well, on March 11, she actually walked and has been walking every day since. Today, she definitely walked more than crawled. It's unbelievable to us that this little girl was the size of a piece of rice, and now here she is walking! It's so fun to watch her. Her little arms are out, her legs are straight as can be, and she's got the biggest smile on her face. She's so proud of herself, but not as proud as her Mommy and Daddy.
