Building Blocks

I found these fun building blocks for K. One of the milestones I've read about it being able to stack blocks. K obviously didn't do this alone, but she loves to help build them tall and then knock them all down. We yell "timber" and she cracks up. Plus, it's fun to see what block she comes to now. I'll have to take a picture of her in 6 months to see where she is.

Big Girl Chair

We have a chair in our tv room that I got from my grandparents' house. My grandmother used to keep teddy bears on it and since I couldn't part with anything of her's, I've saved this chair for 6 years now. We brought it downstairs when Kate was little and it's just sat in our TV room, but ever since her birthday party, when we sat her in it to take a picture, she loves to just sit in it. R took this picture of her drinking her milk in her "big girl chair". She was so happy with herself.

Bartles and James

This picture just reminded me so much of the commercials for Bartles and James wine coolers. R& K were sitting on the front porch on Sunday morning after breakfast and she was so proud of herself for sitting in this chair by herself.

Skype

Skype is such an amazing thing. It allows you to connect with someone thousands of miles away for free. My mom and dad are in Hong Kong and we were able to talk to them tonight as if they were right up the street! We couldn't see them- the video wasn't working, but they could see K! We were eating dinner and I knew they were going to try to call so we brought the computer in the kitchen. They were anxious to here how K's appointment went so we planned on them calling tonight. They will call tomorrow at the same time- 6 pm our time, 6 am the next day Hong Kong time. What an amazing invention Skype is! In case you want to read more about it, check it out at: www.skype.com

Date Night

Last night, we got a sitter and R& I met some friends of ours for some sushi. It was great to hang out and pork it up! We had all kinds of rolls, and J got W &I to try octopus. It wasn't too bad. Probably would never order it again, but that's becuase it just didn't have any taste to it. Everything went well at home. Our sitter is so great- we are really lucky to have found her. I think our next night out will be to see "Made of Honor"- R can't wait :)

Planting Flowers

We're supposed to get some much needed rain today, so I wanted to get some flowers planted around the house. We went and bought them this morning and while I was planting, I got some help from K & M. K loved the shovel and the little name tags in the flowers, but her favorite thing to do was pick the flowers off of the leaves. R took some pictures of my helpers and me.

Sick Day

We spent K's sick day mostly playing with M since we didn't want K to play too much. She had her fruity cheerios in a little dixie cup and would tell M to sit and gave her some. It was really sweet, and suprisingly, M listened!

Another ear infection

K woke up on Tuesday with a really high fever, so we took her to the Dr. and exactly as we thought- ear infection. This one was bad. So, our doctor referred us to see an Ears, Nose and Throat Dr. on Monday to discuss if she needs tubes or not. She was still sick on Wednesday, but back to acting herself by the afternoon, so that was a relief. Wish us luck for the appointment on Monday. I'm hoping the Dr. says no, but I have a feeling she'll need them. I know it's not a big deal, and this happens about 100 times a day to kids, but when it's your own, it's different.

Thanksgiving Dinner

No, it's not November, but we did have Thanksgiving dinner tonight. My mom knows that R loves Thanksgiving dinner so she made it for us tonight. R & I cheated on South Beach and carbed it up tonight and had mashed potatoes, stuffing, and gravy! YUM! Even K had some mashed potatoes and stuffing, but her very favorite was the cranberries. My paternal grandmother used to love the cranberry sauce too so we were laughing about that saying that K is just like her. Thanks Mom for a great dinner!

Ice Cream video

I just realized the ice cream video never posted- trying it again.

Spring Fever

Yesterday we went to my nephew's soccer game, had lunch, napped and went to our friend's 1st birthday party. K had so much fun! She wore her new dress and shoes and looked like such a little girl! She had her own cupcake and ate the whole thing, played with a pinata and even managed to get a Butterfinger candy bar for Daddy, made a craft- a sun visor and got a beach bucket with bubbles, sidewalk chalk and bracelets. After the party, we had dinner together- just the 3 of us. We came home and played in the buggy and in the yard with M.

Today, we went to breakfast, visited Grammie's, and now K is napping. R is at a baseball game with our friend, J. so he won't be home until later. We are loving this weather and spending as much time outside as we can.

Ice Cream Anyone?

After having such a great day of shopping and playing in the sun, Gramma and Pop Pop came for dinner and after they left, we took K to get some ice cream. She's had ice cream before, but never on a cone. So, we took her and got her their baby cone. We let her hold it and she knew exactly what to do. She LOVES ice cream- like mother like daughter! She did really well with it and of course, bit the other end of the cone and ice cream dripped out a little. It was priceless. After a while, she just sat down and ate. I've posted some video and some pics of K's 1st ice cream cone.

Picture Perfect

I absolutely LOVE this picture of R&K. I always see people taking these pics and we had the opportunity to take one this past weekend. I LOVE it!

A Tribute to the Masters

I'm not a fan of golf at all- I don't understand it, never played and don't get it. But, since my dad and R our huge golf fans, I thought we'd put K in an outfit to honor the Masters. It has a front and a back so I've included both shots of it.

This has been such a great weekend with the nice weather out. It's a little cooler today, but still sunny. R& I went to a movie last night with our friends L&B. We saw 21 with Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth. It was great! It's all about counting cards, which you see in the previews. R & I thought it was really good.

Spring is here!!

Spring is definitely here! Yesterday it was 71 degrees! When I got home from work, R, K, M and I went for a walk in the infamous buggy- I can't complain too much about the motorcycles next door because you can hear us coming from a mile away. We got home and R & K played fetch with M. It was so cute! K obviously can't throw that far, but M fetched it and brought it back to her. She got tired so K's throws were perfect for her.

The shirt says it all....

K is definitely Daddy's little girl. This is probably the last time she'll be able to wear this shirt since she's outgrown in, so we had to get one last picture of her in it.

New Words

Our daycare provider emailed me today to let me know that K said banana! LOL. It cracks me up. I guess she was feeding her strawberries and bananas and K said it. I'm so proud, i can't help it! And, in the same e mail, she let us know that she had a runny eye. So, of course I freaked out thinking it was pink eye, but i think it's just a cold in her little eye. Poor little girl. I just read up on the internet that when babies have colds or sinus infections ( i've read babies can't get sinus infections, but I don't believe that) they sometimes have runny eyes. It doesn't seem to bother her. We walked in the buggy today, ate dinner and played with all of K's balls after dinner.

Bigger Every Day

K got this zebra as a gift from her Uncle S and Aunt C for Christmas. When she got it, she could barely sit on it- she wasn't big enough. Yesterday, she got on it on her own, knows to ride it and jump up and down on it. It's amazing how big she's getting so quick!

Show Off

I had to post a picture of the flowers that I planted last fall. I know it's not a big deal at all, but I am so proud of these flowers- probably because I've never really grown flowers before. K & I cut some yesterday and put them in a vase and they are smelling up the house. We may have to take them out because they are so strong! We are all sneezing like crazy!

Reunited...

And, we are all finally together again! R arrived safely from Chicago on Thursday night. K was asleep, but he was able to get her yesterday morning when she woke up and she was so excited to see him. She hugged him and made him read her every book. It was really cute. When she first saw him, she started dancing in her crib and clapping and jumping up and down. it was really the cutest thing and a great way to be greeted!

Today, we hung around all day. R didn't feel well, so he slept most of the day. I took K outside for a walk in the buggy, and to pick some flowers that I planted last spring. I'll post a picture of them soon. We went and bought another azalea so we'll plant that when it gets a little warmer. Hopefully this one will grow!
And, we had another sign of the warm weather coming today. American Chopper next door was in full effect. It was great- motorcycles revving in the driveway for about 10-15 minutes (woke K up from her nap, not to mention mine too), and them coming and going all afternoon. UGH!!!!!

14 Months Old!

K is 14 months old today. It is so hard for us to believe. Like the saying goes, Time flies when you're having fun! She is walking around like crazy, repeating everything we say (or at least trying to), eating everything, loving to read and she now has a Cabbage Patch Kid that she plays mommy to. She is so funny- she feeds her her little bottle and makes a sipping sound with her mouth like she's feeding the baby. She loves playing with the dog and taking walks in the buggy. She's a very happy little girl. We were saying today that she is a little girl now, and not a baby anymore :(

Happy 14 months, K! These have been the best 14 months of our lives!!

Hanging Around

Today was a rough day for both K & me. I took her to daycare this morning and it was hard to leave her after being together for so many days. R usually drops her off, but he was in Chicago last night for work so I had to do it. UGH! It was horrible. She cried and held on to my leg, but I called when I got to work and she was fine. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess. So, I picked her up and found out that the stomach bug is at daycare, so I'm praying that K doesn't get it.

Tonight we are just waiting for R to get in- we can't wait to see him! It's been almost a week. K was playing in her playroom and she sat on her chair that she got from Grammie for Christmas (in case you are wondering, it's the "My First Anywhere Chair" from Pottery Barn Kids. I thought it was so cute how she just plopped down in it like a person (I know she's a person, but you know what I mean). And, then she brought her dog up and played with it as well.

A Visit with Gramma and Pop Pop

K & I went to Florida to visit with Gramma and Pop Pop. Despite both of us being sick, we had a great time! We took lots of walks in the buggy, went to an outdoor shopping mall and walked around, had lots of nice home cooked meals, played with toys, took K to the pool & beach- she wasn't a fan of the pool and HATED the sand- is this really my daughter?? We spent lots of time with Gramma and Pop Pop so that was really nice. Poor K threw up on the plane ride down and every day while we were there- her little nose was so stuffed. On April 1, we celebrated Pop Pop's birthday! This was my first time celebrating my dad's birthday with him in 4 years, so it was extra special for me. It was K's first time celebrating with him too. My mom made a great dinner, we had a piece of cake for my dad, and sang "Happy Birthday" 5 times! K LOVED to sing and watch him blow out the candle. She had a blast in Florida and we made it home safe & sound.

You're probably wondering where R was... he was in Vegas celebrating a friend's 40th birthday! He had a great time too. Still trying to figure out if he won or not :) And, we missed him and M terribly!!!
