These Boots Were Made for Walking

I LOVE having a little girl! She is so much fun and does the cutest things. Earlier in the month, one night after bath, Kate was in her jammies and we were getting ready to "snuggle up in bed & watch a show", which is her favorite thing to do at night- mine too ;). Anyway, I ran downstairs to get something and when I came up, here is what I found. She went into my closet and put my boots on. I cracked up. She was walking around in them and thought she was so fancy. Love her fashion sense :)

The next morning was our big snowstorm- the 1st one. She wanted to stay in her jammies all day, which we both ended up doing. Here she is:

Dora hat- check. Dora books- check. Jammies- check. And, that's pretty much what we did all day.

We're getting ready for our 4th big snow of the season today. Hoping we don't get too much as I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow and we always look forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat.

It's in the Bible

Rich takes care of Kate in the morning since I am at work so early. To help out, I lay out her outfit the night before. Rich is perfectly capable of picking out her outfit, but it just makes me feel like I'm helping when I do this.

Last night, I laid out a pink corduroy jumper, white turtleneck and tights with pink hearts. Rich went to dress Kate this morning, and she told him she wanted to wear her purple snowman sweater and pulled the sweater out of the drawer. Rich said, "Let's wear what Mommy picked out for you". She turned and went to her nightstand. Rich thought he was winning this argument so he put it away. She had grabbed her bible out of her nightstand, looks at Rich, with the page open, and says, "It says, you don't want to wear your leggings (tights) today". Rich laughed thinking, she must think if it says it the bible it must be true. I am hysterical typing this, by the way.

It wasn't worth the fight. She wore her purple snowman sweater and her black pants.

In the end, I think it was all about wanting to wear her sneakers. I told her you don't wear sneakers with dresses, so she wanted to wear pants. She knows what she wants!

Valentine's Day Party at School

Kate had her Valentine's Day party at school last week. It had to be rescheduled becuase of the snow.
Each child could bring in their Valentine's, only signed by them, not addressed. So, Kate and I lined up her Valentine's and she "signed" each one.
They each got to play mailman and put a Valentine in each kid's goodie bag.
The parents could also sign up to bring something to the party so Kate brought in slice and back Valentine's day cookies with hearts.

She helped me do everything! She had a great time at her party too, and got lots of fun Valentines. She was the only one with Dora Valentines too :)

Kate's 1st Haircut

Kate got her first haircut tonight. We had a party near Aunt Crystal and Uncle Scott's house so we stopped there first and Aunt Crystal cut Kate's hair.

First snip

Still going, Kate looks a little worried

Just having a snack during my haircut

Almost done

TA DA!! What a beauty! First haircut complete

This was the last thing of firsts that I had to put into Kate's baby book. I can't believe I finally gave in and cut her hair, but she needed it and it looks adorable! Kate did so great. We told her about it so she would know what was going on and Crystal was so great with her. Thanks Aunt Pickle!

Kate's 3rd Birthday Party!

We had to postpone Kate's 3rd birthday party because of all of the snow. But, it ended up being so much fun!

We made the cupcakes and Kate helped put the Dora, Diego, Boots and Baby Jaguar rings on them. We decorated the house and all the guests came. Kate wore a special Dora outfit that has a 3 in the hat and "Kate" under Dora.

We had Annie's Menagerie bring animals- a cockatiel, box turtle, a bunny, a ferret, a hedgehog, a chinchilla and hermit crabs. The kids could pet each one and Annie told them something about each animal. They all seemed to love the animals!

Squirting the hermit crabs
The kids each got to pet each animal. Kate was so gentle and LOVED all the animals. After the animals, we had pizza and cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday to Kate. She had 2 cupcakes, well the icing off the cupcakes :)
Here we are with the Birthday Girl
We opened presents after everyone left. Kate had a BLAST at her party.
On Sunday morning, she said to me, "Mommy, I had so much fun at my birthday party! Now I'm 3!" Happy Birthday, Kate! Planning your party was SO MUCH FUN and we hope you enjoyed every moment of it- we think you did ;)

Blizzard #2 of 2010

We had 2 snowed in days, due to a State of Emergency, called by the Governor, who was in London missing all of this. Because of the SOE, my work was closed. Rich still had to work, but we weren't allowed to be on the streets, so we were all snowed in together.

Kate and I decided to make some banana bread and man, it was good!!

Kate stirring

Those bananas were tough to stir!

On Day #2, today, the snow finally stopped and we decided to build a snowman. I can honestly say that I've never built one on my own. Rich came out to help with the finishing touches, ie, the blueberries for a mouth, grapes for eyes and blueberries for buttons. Kate reminded us that the snowman needed buttons. Thanks Kate!

The snowman was as tall as Kate!

Love this view of them ;)

Our family

Kate helped Rich shovel since I'm not able to help out. She's really a great helper!
So, the snow has finally stopped. We were fortunate and only lost power for about 10 minutes last night. We've broken snow records this winter and we're only in February. Apparently, we're supposed to get ANOTHER storm next week. UGH.

Blizzard #2 of 2010

Holy moly, enough with the snow already!! It has been snowing for 2 days now. We are SO SICK of it!! It looks beautiful and we've been able to hang out at home together, but enough is enough with the snow. I'm thinking about warmer days right now.....

It's a GIRL!!

We had our ultrasound yesterday where they scan the baby to make sure everything looks okay so far. This is done between 18-20 weeks. I was 19 weeks, 3 days. Thank God, everything looked normal and we were able to find out that It's a GIRL!!! We are elated that Kate gets to have a sister, but more elated that the baby looks healthy so far. What a relief! She weighs 10 ounces right now, and as the tech said, she's the same weight as a soda can, but is the size of a cantaloupe. She is measuring 19 weeks 1-3 days, so right on track. We couldn't have asked for better news and are so grateful for this blessing.

We waited to tell Kate together and here is her reaction. The excitement lasted for 1 second, but she's got years to be excited about having a sister!! And, there was Chinese food on the table. She was hungry! I'll try to post the video- having technical difficulties :)

I can't wait to see our next little girl dress up like this beauty- Thank you C family for the princess dress up shoes. As you know, they are a hit :)

Daddy's Helper

Rich has been working so hard for the past 2 weeks to finish Kate's playroom. It started as a "I'm going to paint the trim green" to the whole room needs repainting. So, he's been working really late after work to finish this up in time for her birthday party, which ended up getting moved. More pics to come, but I wanted to show what a help Kate has been.

Helping Daddy paint the windows

I can do this, Daddy.
And, Rich decided to build a "tree fort" in the playroom. He thought it would be so fun to have a slide going down. How awesome is this???
First time down the slide

That was fun!!

Pictures from Kate's Birthday on February 4- Presents, Bear pic, Aquarium & Cupcakes

I'm behind, but since we're snowed in and Kate is napping, I thought I'd catch up.

Kate was SO HAPPY to be 3!

Kate had such a great day. She had swim lessons that night, so we took her for a birthday dinner at Red Robin on Friday night!

Blizzard of 2010

We are getting bombarded with snow! It started last night at around 5 and is STILL snowing. Wewere supposed to have Kate's birthday party today, but we postponed it, thank goodness!

I'll post more pics, but wanted to get this picture of our house and of Molly running in the snow, just to give those who aren't getting hit with this an idea of how much we have. Like I said, it's still snowing, so there will be more. I don't think we'll take Kate out since we have 20 inches so far and she's only 31 inches. LOL.

Our house at 11:00 am- you can barely see Molly and it is still snowing!
