K is very lucky to receive hand me down clothes and toys. We got a ton of toys from my old neighbor Katie (who used to babysit me) and her family and K has loved every one of them. Katie told me she had an Elmo work bench for K so we picked it up yesterday and K LOVES it! She dances, spins and plays with all of the toys. Thanks Katie!!

Bubble Blower!

K is obsessed with bubbles. Everytime we go into the laundry room, where her bubbles are, she starts yelling, " Bubbles! Bubbles!". And, she loves to push things and be outside, so we got her a bubble blower and it is her new favorite thing. She went up and down the driveway about 20 times, pushing her mower, and watching the bubbles come out. She starts to go a little too quick with it and we get nervous, but she's a pro walker now. And, M played too- she loves to catch the bubbles that K makes. A few times, she tried to ride it, but quickly realized that wasn't a good idea. K took a great nap after all those laps up and down the driveway :)
First Slurpee
New Shoes

Since K has been walking so much, she ran her old new shoes out. So, we went and got her a new pair of pink ones! We went to Olly and they digitally measure the child's foot. K wasn't too sure what to make of these new shoes. She was walking on her tip toes the first time she wore them. And, they have velcro! So, not only are they for walking, but they are also a new toy.

It's the little things...

Ever since we had K, we started to notice the little things about life. For example, when K was a newborn, we would change her on her changing table and she would stare at the wall and touch it. To us, this is just a wall, but to her, it's surface is new, it's color is new. K is obsessed with ceiling fans. To us, this is just another way to keep the house cool (and something for me to ask R about getting more of all the time :) ), but to K, it's this fun thing that moves around and she absolutely LOVES them. We were outside yesterday playing and K found a monkey ball. These nuisance things are all around, but she's never seen one before so she was completely intrigued by it. I could go on and on about all of the little things that K helps us to notice and not take for granted.

Happy Mother's Day!

This is my 2nd Mother's Day and it was fantastic! I woke up, checked e mail and when I heard K wake up, I went back to bed and R got her and she came and laid with me for a minute. She walked into the room saying, "Mama". I mean, can it get any better? My day was made! She bought me a Vera Bradley wallet, Sour Patch Kids and something else is on the way. We went to breakfast with Grammie and M and then came home, napped, ran some errands and went for a Mexican dinner. I was able to talk to my mom yesterday, which was Mother's Day in China but I did get an e mail from them today, so my whole day was complete. R, K, M & I spent the whole day together. I just love being a mom!!! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers reading this. We all hope you had a wonderful day!

Flower Market

We took K to the Flower Market today. We weren't sure if the weather was going to hold up, but it turned out okay. We were able to take her on her 1st amusement rides. I took her on a little car ride and R took her on a bumblebee ride that went up in the air! She wasn't too sure at first, but had a great time on both. We walked around, shopped, ate lunch and K loved the balloons and all the people.

Corn Popper
K got a corn popper from Grammie for Christmas and she's able to play with it now. Here is a video of her playing with. I'm not sure who likes it more- K or M.

80 degrees!
We hit 80 degrees today- what a gorgeous day! The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Unfortunately, we had to work so we couldn't enjoy the outside, but it was a beautiful day! R taught K how to say "elbow" this morning. Random, i know, but she was touching his elbow so he said, elbow. She repeated it and said belbow. So, at dinner tonight, that's all she wanted to talk about- belbow. we were hysterical!
K's tooth finally broke through today so you can see it- it's her 6th tooth. We can see 2 more that are very white in the gums, but haven't come through yet. I think because there are 3 coming in at one time, it's painful for her, so she's been chewing on anything she can get in her mouth and drooling a ton too. It's so funny to see her with all these little teeth coming in.

Back to Normal

K is completely back to her normal self! She went to daycare today and her teacher said she didn't act the least bit different, didn't even touch her ears! She's such a little trooper.
I picked her up from daycare and we went to see R play softball- it was K's first game. It was great to see the guys again and watch them play for a little bit. K just wanted Daddy the whole time- very cute. Then we got home and skyped with Gramma and Pop Pop for a minute so that they could see her and see that she really was okay. They are having a great time in China.
After our call, we took a bath and now she's asleep. Thank you all again for your calls, texts and e mails asking about her. We're so fortunate to have such wonderful friends.

Tubes are in, surgery is done!!!
K did so great today! She's such a brave little girl. We arrived at the hospital at 6:45 am and got signed in. We waited for about 10 minutes, they brought her back, checked her and then we waited for another hour. They called our names and brought us back and they gave K a dropper full of medicine that helped take the edge off when they took her from us. It was so weird to watch her in "la la land". I didn't like it at all, but she didn't seem to mind. We met every person that would be in the OR with her and everyone was so nice and understanding (I was a little bit of a wreck). We kissed her goodbye, they took her back and we went over to the waiting room. Grammie and M were there and we sat in the room, Grammie told me a story, and the Dr. came out when she was done that story. I was thinking, "Shouldn't he be in there with K and doing her ears?" But, he was out because he was done- it literally took 5 minutes! he brought us back and talked to us a bit and then we went into the waiting room for them to call us. We were able to get to K as she was waking up. We left the hospital after she had her juice and seemed okay to the nurse. She had some toast, ate goldfish and cheerios and some juice and is now napping.
So, all went very smoothly and it's done! She's such a trooper! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

15 Months Old!

K is 15 months old today. It is so hard for us to believe. We had her 15 month check up on Friday and she did so great. She's just shy of 24 pounds and is 30 1/2" long. The Dr. said she looks great. Our next well visit is in 3 months so we're hoping we won't be in there again until then.
We've had such a great today. For the 1st time today, K looked at me and said, "Mama"!! I was so excited, I jumped up and down, which made her keep on saying it. So, I think she's finally realizing that Mama and me are the same person. yeah!!
We went to breakfast this morning with M&B and then came home and played on K's new swingset- in the picture. Then we were outside for most of the day helping R lay a retention wall around our flower beds. After that, we went with Grammie for dinner and K ate a ton, which is a good thing since she can't eat tomorrow until after her surgery.
We'll be leaving here at 6:30 am to arrive the hospital at 6:45. I'll post tomorrow letting everyone know how she does.

Saturday
We are having a really nice weekend so far. I thought I was going to be completely stressed all weekend- K is getting tubes in her ears on Monday morning. It's probably the most minor surgery out there, but she still has to go under and i'm a wreck about it. I know she'll be fine, but I can't help but worry. We had her pre op appointment on Friday. Everything checked out fine- she's approved for surgery- I was secretly hoping they would tell us we had to wait, but no dice! So, her surgery is scheduled for 8:05 am on Monday. We have to be there at 6:45. I probably won't sleep a wink, but she will, and that's all that matters.
We went out for pizza last night with Grammie and that was fun. Today, we hung out most of the morning and while K took a nap, I snuck in a movie with my friend, L. it was great to go to a matinee- we saw "Made of Honor". It was cute, but predictable. K& I went to the park while R put her swingset together- thanks Daddy!! and then we went to dinner with our friend M and her son, B, who is 5 months older than K. When we got home, we got a call from my mom and dad, who are in Beijing. It was so great to hear them and talk to them.
